Shoulder season. I got to spend some time with @roberts_composites here in Canada to talk about lots of Dutch things because of the man’s roots. However most of the talk was about making this DW foil board and putting some crazy, fun and playful lines in! Most importantly what color to pick 😜 it was so much fun messing a lot of things up and learning from them for the next one that will be built. Huge privilege to be able to give something back to our beautiful sport. Together with the amazing @annemiekbekkering I've been tournament director of the Allianz Sailing World Championship in The Hague. A great event with all 10 Olympic classes and 4 para classes. It was wonderful to catch up with the athletes but most of all I'm very impressed by the commitment of everyone involved besides @watersportverbond @worldsailingofficial and @tig_sports a huge amount of volunteers who are the true champions of the event. Without them, it is not possible for "us" athletes to play outside and do what we love most. Thank you 🤙

What a weekend! What a race! I did a quick 3day trip back home because I could not mis out on @roundtexel this year to enjoy the @wavesfestival!!! I had a blast getting my butt kicked by @chucho_nonnot and the island itself 🤣 it’s always a challenge to make it fully around but we had such nice conditions! We did a little road trip from Park city Utah back home to laguna beach. Last week I had a “offline” week. I have been watching some interesting documentaries on Netflix that made me think about lots of stuff. Different subjects varying from racism, drugs and social media. I decided to delete my Instagram account and just see what would happen. The first and most notable thing was that I had way more time in the day to do other things. 5 min here and there add up if you take them away. My general feeling has always been that I would love to just go back to a Nokia. Texts and calls thats it. But for me how I live my life it’s not the best. I say the best and I don’t say not possible because anything’s possible if you really want it. I just choose not to. Living over here in the USA having my family back in Europe I love to video call and when ever I can take pictures of the family that’s with me. Im back online but with a fresh look on how much time goes by unproductive. I love keeping track of all my friends all over the world and sharing my adventures with them in return. So here I am... all done with my daily swim. Im a little bit proud of myself. I’m not the biggest fan when it comes down to being in the water... it’s not that I can’t swim or anything but I just prefer being on top of it haha. At the moment we are in a 14 day quarantine here in Vancouver. During this we are not allowed to leave the house, this doesn’t leave me with a whole lot of options. But I planned ahead I made sure to bring the trunks, goggles even some hand paddles. The reason for me that I’m a little proud is because I set a challenge to go out of my comfort zone. So far I managed to go swimming most evenings, unless the weather wouldn’t allow me. As I’m just like any other person this for me is a little achievement. For me it’s not everyday a world class photographer like @scottmarkewitz snaps a picture of me! It’s always interesting to have a pic or video of yourself to analyze...
